Almost There! Manufacturing, Testing, and What’s Next

We’ve got a bunch of exciting progress to share with you today on the BLEShark Nano! Let's jump in.

1. 🧱 Case Updates

During drop testing, we noticed the battery wasn’t holding perfectly in place. We’ve made small but important improvements to the internal base design to better secure the battery and protect it during impact. Simple fix, big impact!

2. 📦 Shipments

Here’s what we’ve already received:

  • Packaging
  • Batteries
  • USB-C cables
  • Stickers

Here’s what’s still on the way:

  • PCBs with assembled parts (1–2 weeks for U.S. orders, 4–5 weeks for EU/UK/AU/RoW)
  • Device screws (~1–2 weeks)
  • Device enclosures (~3–5 weeks)
  • User manuals (~3–5 weeks)
  • Silicone cases with packaging (~3–5 weeks)

Once PCBs arrive, we can immediately start soldering the batteries, placing antennas, and beginning assembly - no need to wait on all parts to begin!

3. 🔩 Screw Issue

Our screw supplier mistakenly sent screws with a 5mm outer diameter instead of the 6mm we ordered. While they technically fit, they don’t look or feel quite right. Take a look:

We’re currently working with the supplier to correct this and will be reordering or swapping to the proper size for better feel and finish.

4. 🌍 EU, UK, AU, and RoW Orders

We've received the lead-free samples for the OLED displays - they are functioning perfectly, and are confirmed to be lead-free! Production has begun, and the OLEDs will arrive at our PCB manufacturer’s facility in 2–3 weeks. After that, we’ll place the final PCB order for international customers and begin production right away.

5. 🧪 Testing Jig

We’ve built a compact hardware testing jig to ensure every BLEShark Nano passes a full functionality check before shipping. Each unit is tested for:

  • Infrared transmitter and receiver capabilities
  • Wi-Fi - by performing a deauth attack and verifying if a target device disconnects
  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) functionality
  • Button functionality

The BLEShark Nano must be battery-powered during the test, so the jig effectively verifies real-world performance - not just isolated features. The full test cycle takes about 30 seconds per device, allowing us to quickly and confidently catch any defects before your BLEShark reaches you.

We’re also improving the firmware on both the BLEShark and the jig itself to streamline testing and make it even more reliable.
